Tecno Mobile is a subsidiary of Transsion Holdings which is based in Hong Kong but is a Chinese smartphone maker. It is a popular brand in the continent of Asia and Africa. Another popular brand itel is the sister concern of them.
Tecno Mobile started its journey in the year 2006 and primarily conducted business on African and the South Asian demand. But after just two years in 2008, they decided to stop their progress in Asia and concentrated only on Africa. Around eight years later in 2016, when they became a big name in Africa, they decided to make their next move to continents like the Middle-East and India. Soon they got recognition in those areas.
Tecno officially entered Bangladeshi market in July 2017. Their journey in Bangladesh started with just five smartphones. From then, the Camon CX Air came to the spotlight. They especially mentioned their Pixel X image processing technology for excellent quality photos in low light in media coverage to differentiate them from other brands with low budget models. upon their first release, they also offered a 13 months warranty and 100 days replacement facility. The first Tecno phones usually cost from 6,390 Tk. to 19,990 Tk.
Emerging markets are the main focus of Tecno. Bangladesh was an emerging market too in 2017 when they entered the country. But now it has many established brands for low and low-mid budget consumers. In 2018, Transsion Holdings founded their first phone assembling factory in Bangladesh for Tecno and itel. It confirmed their intent to grow and expand. Since then, Tecno mobile can release phones at a more affordable price as the tax payment is now much lower. Currently, Tecno is considered one of the most popular smartphone brands in Bangladesh regarding sales.
